All SMA employees are assigned hardware and software needed to complete relevant work tasks. It is the responsibility of each user to maintain all assigned devices in good working order and to immediately report any loss, theft, damage, or malfunction to the IT Help Desk. Maintenance, beyond basic cleaning, should be performed only by SMA IT.
SMA IT maintains an inventory of all assigned hardware and regularly makes upgrade and replacement recommendations based on functionality, serviceability, and cost-effectiveness to executive management. All hardware and software purchase requests should be submitted to the IT Help Desk.
SMA IT also makes recommendations to retire hardware if it no longer fits SMA’s needs. Retired hardware may be made available for sale or donation, based on its current depreciation, and this hardware will be first wiped of all SMA data, and delivered with no software or support.
Software Installation
All software installations must be performed by SMA IT, and installation requests should be submitted to the IT Help Desk. Certain software may not be permitted if it conflicts with other software or is deemed unnecessary or irrelevant to SMA productivity.
Microsoft 365
All SMA employees are assigned a Microsoft 365 account, including a soudermiller.com email address. The contents of this account and any communication transmitted or received with it are the property of SMA. Users may install Microsoft 365 components on their personal devices if they wish, but SMA IT cannot provide support for non-SMA devices.
Can I install Microsoft Office on my personal device?
Access
All assigned devices and the data they contain are the property of SMA and are only to be accessed by authorized SMA employees. Access to SMA devices and systems may be suspended or permanently revoked if general use guidelines are not followed. Access to all devices and systems will be revoked and accounts archived in place upon termination of employment.
